Classification: Full time hourly

Pay: $10.50-$11.50 depending on experience

Summary:

Supervise and teach work skills to people with disabilities in a production setting. Oversee and support people as they learn new work and social skills, improve their productivity, and increase their ability to work independently. Work with Supervisor to help implement individual plan goals, and report on progress/results of implementation.

Education/Experience/Certifications/Licensure:

Must have a valid driver’s license or Utah ID card and be able to pass a Criminal Background Check. High school diploma preferred. Must complete Columbus training requirements: SOAR, First Aid, CPR certificates, completion of Initial Training and 12 hrs. ongoing training yearly.

Essential Functions:

  • Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships – develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintain them over time.

  • Communicate with manager and peers – Provide information to supervisor, and co-workers by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.

  • Coaching and developing others – Identify the developmental needs of others and coach, mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge or skills.

  • Assist and care for others – Provide personal assistance, emotional support, medical attention or other personal care. Maintain certification and be physically able to administer CPR, First Aid, and SOAR protocol.

  • Get information – Observe, receive, and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources.

  • Document/record information – Enter, transcribe, store or maintain information in written or electronic form.

  • Perform general physical activities – Perform physical activities that require standing for long periods, along with considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting objects and lifting/supporting people, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.

Responsibilities:

  • Observe client’s attendance, work quality and quantity, attitudes and accomplishments, and record and maintain information in client records.

  • Evaluate the work skills and capacities of clients. Assist supervisor in planning and implementing skills training programs.

  • Encourage clients and facilitate the attainment of work skills and development goals.

  • Supervise clients in choosing and completing work assignments.

  • Supervise clients in work areas, halls, cafeterias, lobbies and waiting areas, and at bus pickup/drop-off areas.

  • Perform production tasks such as loading materials into, and removing them from, production equipment; Counting and weighing finished products or work pieces; Sorting materials or products for processing or shipping, and performing quality checks of finished products.
